Born in the context of the Quartier culturel des Faubourgs, LocoMotion Ville-Marie has been rolling since August 2023. Thanks to neighbourhood volunteers, locals can share bike trailers and cargo bikes. In short, a great project by and for the people of Centre-Sud.
In 2022 and 2023, LESPACEMAKER hosted and actively got involved in the LocoMotion Ville-Marie Committee, making spaces for exchange and know-how available.
Thanks to the expertise of the workshop leads, volunteers from various Montreal neighbourhoods can experiment with wood and metal during trailer-building workshops. It’s also an opportunity to give certain materials a second life: bed frames, trees cut down by the City due to disease, tires recovered from SOS Vélos, etc.
There are so many ways to contribute to active and shared transportation with LocoMotion Ville-Marie!

Sharing cargo bikes also means sharing exhibition spaces for many local artists and artisans!
Several artists have transformed the utility trailers into true works of art, brightening the streets and alleys of Ville Marie: Clément Morisset, Julie Parent, Frédéric Dupuis, Geneviève Robitaille, Ugo Laverdiere, Caro Caron, and Drôle de mœurs.
