Let's meet
a committed community
LocoMotion Petite-Patrie members keep their local project rolling because it helps them cut down on car trips, do more by bike, build connections with the neighbourhood, and get their kids around differently!
LocoMotion’s idea was born in 2017 through a co-creation process between Solon and residents of Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie. At first, the project brought together a handful of neighbours experimenting with sharing cars, cargo bikes, and trailers. Picture it: back then, the first shares were arranged through Google Calendars! Things have certainly changed since then.
Beyond being the original guinea pigs, the LocoMotion Petite-Patrie crew helped co-build several tools now available to other neighbourhood committees, including the “Ma vie en remorque” catalogue, Canva templates for promoting a nearby vehicle, a fleet management guide, and more.
🚴🏻 LocoMotion keeps rolling thanks to local volunteers! 💪🏽
There’s a place for what you have to offer: maybe you love Excel spreadsheets, writing and creating, properly inflated tires and bike grease, connecting with people, organizing events… There are plenty of ways to get involved, and that’s what we’ll talk about!
LocoMotion La Petite-Patrie was named LocoVedette at the 2023 LocoFolies Gala ⭐🎉 for its top-notch marketing ideas! From the Ma vie en remorque booklet to the Foire des Possibles, the community brought some serious creative energy.
No app to download! locomotion.app is simply a website, and you’re already here. It works in a web browser like Firefox, Chrome or Safari, on your computer or phone. You can even add a shortcut to your phone’s home screen, and it’ll look just like an app.
Most are available from mid-April to mid-November. A trailer can stay available over the winter if we find a place to store it on private property and someone volunteers to clear the snow!
The trailers attach to bikes using Wike-style hitches, on the left side of the rear wheel. We have some available if you need one. You’ll find more information in the welcome guide and in your account once your registration is approved!
Not at all! Go to locomotion.app and you’ll find a section specifically for reservations. Choose what you want to reserve, the date and the time slot. You can easily see what’s available.
It varies from one LocoMotion sharing community to another. Here, we rely on voluntary contributions for bike and trailer borrowing. A suggested contribution is shown when you make a reservation, based on what you’re borrowing and for how long.
A LocoMotion member with an approved account and driving record will send you a borrowing request. You can set when your car is available, and as the person sharing the car, you always decide whether to accept or decline a request.
Getting to know the people in your community also makes it easier to build trust. You’ll receive a financial contribution from the person borrowing your car. And don’t forget: insurance covers the trips!
Your car must have a maximum original value of $100,000. You’ll also need to notify your insurer. We’ll provide you with a letter for this.
You need to have completed your driving record on locomotion.app, through My profile.
You’ll need these two documents:
Your file will then be reviewed and approved by our team. Once it’s approved, you can start sending borrowing requests for cars shared by other members!
Nope! Just like with bikes and trailers, go to the reservation section and enter the date and time slot you need. You’ll then be able to see which vehicles are available.
It depends on the reservation. Learn more about carsharing rates.
Follow the lead of Lindsay, Florence, Gabrielle, Christine, Isabelle, Marie… and join thousands of LocoMotion members sharing in a way that’s friendly, supportive, and eco-conscious. Let’s share more, decide together.
