In the spring of 2021, five enthusiasts from the groups À nous le Plateau!, the Association Piétons et Cyclistes du Plateau Mont-Royal, the Coalition mobilité active Montréal and Cyclistes solidaires, decided to encourage active and shared mobility on the Plateau-Mont-Royal.
LocoMotion Plateau started with two bike trailers, affectionately named Susanne and Paul, provided by Cyclistes Solidaires. Its official launch at the Centre du Plateau in March 2022 was supported by Caisse Desjardins du Plateau, the borough and the Member of Parliament for Mercier.
In its first year, LocoMotion brought together over 300 members and deployed 15 bike trailers throughout the borough.
Reflecting its growing impact, the citizen initiative received support in 2023 from the Fonds climat du Grand Montréal. Then, the people spoke: LocoMotion Plateau was one of three projects selected in the participatory budget.

⛵ At the Gala LocoFolies 2023, Plateau-Mont-Royal won the LocoMusclé award for its incredible resilience. Despite the challenges, the committee still secured a $50,000 grant! Now that was strength of character.
